Spend an evening with the legendary comic John Cleese, brought to you by Clive Conway Productions.
A man who continues to amuse us, disrupt the status quo, inspire, and shake things up.
Born on October 27, 1939, in Weston-Super-Mare, England, into a modest family, John’s parents valued education highly. However, he often faced ridicule for his height, reaching six feet by the age of twelve. This led him to discover that humour could deflect aggressive behaviour. He developed a deep love for comedy and embarked on an incredible career through his writing and performances.
Some of John’s notable achievements include attending Cambridge University to study Law, where he became a member of the renowned Footlights group. There, he wrote and performed in comedy reviews like “Cambridge Circus,” which toured internationally and spawned numerous other comedy classics, including “I’m Sorry, I’ll Read That Again,” Monty Python’s Flying Circus, and the Monty Python films, all with Eric Idle,Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin.
John and his then-wife, Connie Booth, also collaborated on one of the funniest television series ever, Fawlty Towers (1975).
In recent years, John has graced the screens as Q in the Harry Potter and James Bond series, starting as R before transitioning to Q.
John’s two daughters are considered his greatest life highlights, alongside his commitment to education and learning, which he pursues as a professor-at-large at Cornell University in New York. He resides in Santa Barbara, California.
