Mungi Ngomane has released the following response to The White House meeting.

"I find the uproar over the White House meeting with Zelensky both confusing and ironic. Shock, I understand. Surprise, I do not. Surprise suggests that this behavior was unexpected—that those in power had given us reason to believe otherwise. But anyone who paid attention to the first Trump administration knows that this was entirely predictable.

What I find more troubling, though, is what this moment reveals about where people draw their red lines. A year into a U.S.-funded genocide in Gaza, the public degradation of Zelensky is what prompts outrage? The selective application of moral indignation—of who is deserving of dignity and who is not—lays bare the values at play.

It is not just about who America embraces but also who it chooses to humiliate. That choice is not accidental. It is a reflection of whose suffering is acknowledged and whose is erased.

We are at the mercy of American interests, American values have long been abandoned".
