We are delighted to announce that Dame Patricia Routledge will engage in a captivating conversation with Edward Seckerson on June 8th at the Assembly Hall Theatre.
Dame Patricia Routledge, a renowned British actress, comedian, and singer, is celebrated for her iconic role as Hyacinth Bucket in the BBC sitcom Keeping Up Appearances. Her performance in this show earned her a BAFTA TV Award nomination for Best Light Entertainment Performance in 1992 and 1993.
Beyond her work on Keeping Up Appearances, Routledge has graced the screen in various notable films, including To Sir, with Loveas Clinty Clintridge, Lock Up Your Daughters as Nurse, and Pretty Polly as Miss Gudgeon.
What many may not know is that Routledge’s talents extend beyond acting. She also trained as a singer and had a successful career in musical theatre, both in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Her remarkable achievements include a Tony Award for her Broadway performance in the Styne-Harburg musical Darling of the Day and a Laurence Olivier Award for her performance in Leonard Bernstein’s Candide.
In 1988, Routledge embarked on a successful tour of her one-woman show, Come for the Ride. In 1992, she further showcased her versatility by playing Nettie Fowler in the highly acclaimed production of Carousel at the National Theatre.
