As a player, O'Neill represented a number of clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, and Norwich City. He also earned 64 caps for the Northern Ireland national team between 1971 and 1985.

After retiring from playing, O'Neill became a successful football manager, leading teams such as Leicester City, Celtic, Aston Villa, Sunderland, and the Republic of Ireland national team. He won numerous domestic titles and led Celtic to the UEFA Cup Final in 2003.

Throughout his career, O'Neill was known for his passion, tactical astuteness, and ability to inspire his players. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful and respected managers in modern football history.
